Networking for Journalists

Please join us on Tuesday July 8 as the Sacramento Press Club Freelance Committee presents:

Networking for Journalists (And a little summer celebration)

Journalists are not normally great at self-promotion. But with our industry undergoing historic downsizing, personal networking and marketing skills are becoming an essential tool in a journalist’s long-term career toolbox. With that in mind, please join us at Vallejo’s on Tuesday July 8 as Monica Hart, a.k.a. “the Marketing Coach” shares insights on how to showcase yourself and your work to the open market.

The Sacramento Press Club welcomes

Senate Republican Leader Dave Cogdill

The new Senate Republican leader, Dave Cogdill, will make his first visit to the Press Club on Tuesday, July 15 – two weeks after the state’s constitutional budget deadline.  Continuing budget shortfalls and a statewide drought are among the intractable issues facing the Modesto lawmaker, who has made water issues a major focus of his legislative agenda and has been described as “the GOP point man on water.”

The Sacramento Press Club welcomes

Assembly Speaker Karen Bass

The new speaker of the California Assembly takes over at a challenging time, with a major budget shortfall and a state economy in jeopardy.  She's also making history, as the first African American woman to actively lead a legislative body in U.S. history.  This was her first visit to the Sacramento Press Club, and it came just 10 days before the constitutional deadline for the budget to be sent to the governor.
