Senate President pro Tem Darrell Steinberg

Since officially becoming the leader of the state Senate in November, Sacramento's hometown senator has found himself deep in negotiations to solve California's major fiscal crisis. Steinberg comes to his new rolls after a long career in both the Assembly and capital city politics. He has a reputation for being tough, but fair. In his first appearance before the Sacramento Press Club, he provided a Democratic response to Governor Schwarzenegger's appearance on January 28.
