| | Tuesday, September 22nd The Sacramento Press Club presented The Changing Face of Journalism It is no secret that journalism is in crisis. Advertising dollars have plummeted and media budgets are in freefall across the print, TV and radio spectrum. Many outlets have gone into bankruptcy, and more are threatening to join them each day. The hit seems to be particularly hard for statehouse reporters, who are being laid off in record numbers. In his first visit to the Sacramento Press Club, Hearst Newspapers Editor-at-Large Phil Bronstein, one of the leading voices in modern journalism, shared his perspective on the industry’s ongoing evolution. In addition to his appearance at the SPC lunchen, Mr. Bronstein can often be seen on CNN, MSNBC’s Hardball and even Comedy Central’s Colbert Report. A former Pulitzer Prize finalist as a reporter, Bronstein has covered key stories all over the world. His blog, Bronstein at Large, appears regularly in the San Francisco Chronicle.. |
