Time is running out to nominate yourself or someone else for the 14th Annual California Journalism Awards. Cash prizes. The deadline for submitting print, radio and television entries is September 3, 2008. For full details, please click "read more" below.
Sacramento State's Center for California Studies and the Sacramento Press Club will sponsor the 14th annual California Journalism Awards and the Katharine Macdonald Award luncheon at noon, Wednesday, Oct. 15 in Sacramento.
The California Journalism awards-a cash prize of $500-will be presented to journalists who have published or broadcast a story about California state government or politics. The Katharine Macdonald prize of $300 will be awarded to a student journalist. Entries must have been published or broadcast from Jan. 1, 2007 through Dec. 31, 2007. The awards are given in four categories:
* Print Journalism (Two categories: John Jacobs Awards for excellence in daily coverage, and excellence in special feature or enterprise reporting) *Radio Journalism *Television Journalism *Student Journalism
Journalists may enter themselves or be nominated by someone (e.g. section editors, news assignment editors or program directors). Print entries must be on 8 ½ x 11 paper and may be Internet-generated. Radio entries must be submitted on CD, and television entries must be submitted on DVD. All entries must be postmarked by Wednesday, Sept. 3 and sent to: California Journalism Awards; Center for California Studies; California State University, Sacramento; 6000 J Street; Sacramento, CA, 95819-6081.
