Sept 2008 Freelance Event PDF  | Print |  E-mail
Please join us on Tuesday September 9th as the Sacramento Press Club Freelance Committee presents: Writing for Trade Publications

Trade publications are a great way for freelancers to break into writing for a specific market or niche. Please join us as we welcome Margaret Felts, president of the California Communications Association and the managing editor of CalCom Connect (http://www.calcomwebsite.com/default.asp?id=4019), who will discuss the ins and outs of writing for industry-specific publications like hers. We’re still working on additional speakers, so you don’t want to miss this one.

About our speaker: Margaret Felts is President of the California Communications Association (CalCom), which represents the interests of the incumbent local exchange carriers and communications supply companies serving California. Prior to joining CTA in 2002, Felts served for 20 years as a litigation consultant to private law firms and state agencies on energy and environmental matters. During that period, Felts served as an expert witness on numerous energy cases before the California Public Utilities Commission (PUC) on behalf of the Office of Ratepayer Advocates and most recently served as an investigative technical consultant and expert witness to the PUC Legal Office in the investigation into the California energy crisis. Felts also served as the Division Chief of Environmental Engineering for the Department of Defense and as Deputy Director of the California Department of Toxic Substances Control, in charge of the State’s superfund and emergency response programs. Felts began her career as an engineer with Amoco Oil Company at the Yorktown refinery.
