By investing time up front to get on state lists and develop government-grade proposals, you can tap into the wealth of writing projects awarded through the bidding process. Two veteran project procurement experts shared tips for a painless application process that can lead to interesting and rewarding work.

 

About our speakers: 

As Chief of the state Department of General Services’ Office of Small Business and Disabled Veteran Business Enterprises Services, Eric Mandell is in charge of communications and outreach for the Procurement Division. He is an expert on small business and DVBE certification, as well as on how to become listed on the California Multiple Award Schedule (CMAS) for contracting opportunities. Eric has enjoyed careers in marketing, communications, advertising, and the media for more than 30 years. He has worked on air and in management positions in radio and television and also owns his own small business, ECM Communications.  

 

 

Gladys Cornell, principal of AIM Consulting, was vice president of marketing for an engineering firm for 20 years before starting her own communications and facilitation practice. She works with public agencies to make a positive difference in the community by partnering with constituents to build consensus and find solutions. Clients include the City of Roseville Alternative Transportation Department, El Dorado County Transportation Commission and Mountain House Community Services District.
